Abby Drivdahl, History
B.A. Georgetown University
M.A. University of Oregon
Abby Drivdahl has been at York since 2007 and has crammed as much as possible into her York experience- although there’s always room for more! She does softball, Photography Club, wilderness adventures, games of ninja, and more than the occasional prank on her students, to name a few. She’s also been lucky enough to travel with York students, having visited her almost-native Japan, Italy, Greece, and the United Kingdom with groups of Yorkies who are almost as excited as she is.
Abby considers history a means to study the past in order to understand and prepare for the future. She believes history should come alive in the classroom, and she enjoys using her theatre background to portray historical figures such as Mehmed the Conqueror and Marie-Antoinette. She strives to instill this enthusiasm in all her students, and she can also be caught making Star Trek or Doctor Who references to history. She even has her own sonic screwdriver.
When not playing pranks or impersonating conquistadors on the hilltop, she enjoys aikido, Frisbee, the outdoors, reading, and spending time with her diabolically inclined cats.
