Admission Events 2011-2012
Accepting Applications for the 2012-2013 School Year
January 8, Inside York ~ 1-3:00 p.m. in the Library
Want to know the inside scoop about life at York? Need more information about the admission process, what classes are really like, or what kinds of clubs and sports we have?
Take a look Inside York on January 8 through the eyes of our current students. This event has a new format and you won’t want to miss it! We’ll start in the Library for a group information session. Then prospective students will have a chance to socialize with current York students over cocoa and treats, asking all their questions and finding out about everything at York. At the same time, parents will get their chance to ask questions and learn about York from teachers, veteran parents, and our student ambassadors. Find out about the opportunities for music, theatre, athletics, student government, clubs, community service, and art. Learn more about curriculum options and what to expect as a York student/parent. Students, younger siblings, parents, and other important relatives are all welcome to attend!
November 12, All About York ~ 1-5:00 p.m.
1-2:00 p.m. "IQ" Session: Ice Cream & Questions
2-5:00 p.m. Structured Program
If you can only make one event this year, this is the one to attend! Before the structured program begins at 2:00, you can join us for ice cream and begin learning about York both in and out of the classroom—current teachers, students, and parents will be available for you to talk with during this time. Starting at 2:00, join us for a program that will give you a detailed overview of everything at York: academic courses, athletics, arts, college counseling, admissions, and financial aid. All About York is a great way to get an overall feel for what York has to offer so be sure to bring the whole family!
October 20, Prospective Parents Coffee ~ 9-11:00 a.m.
Parents of Prospective Students: Here's a chance for you to have your own shadow visit at York. You can start the day with coffee, tea, and goodies while enjoying conversation with Chuck Harmon, the Head of School, teachers, students, and other parents. Then we'll have a tour of the campus, sit in on "Break," our student assembly, and experience the school in action. We'll focus on addressing questions from the parent perspective—please RSVP to csmith@york.org or rachel@york.org.
September 22, Admission 101 ~ 7-8:30 p.m. in the Library
Join us for our first event of the year and learn more about the unique culture, mission, and student life at York. This informal session will give you a chance to hear from the people who know York best: current students, teachers, and parents. This event is designed for both students and parents.
We look forward to meeting you. No RSVPs are needed.
Financial Aid Workshops
November 17 & January 11 ~ 7-8:30 p.m. in the Library
Meet with the Director of Admission and Financial Aid, Catha Smith, to find out all about financial aid application procedures and deadlines.
There are two parts to applying for Financial Aid—the Parent Financial Statement (PFS) form and copies of income taxes. The PFS form should be submitted online by January 31, 2012. Tip: It is fine to use estimated numbers on the PFS form, so there is no need to wait until the last minute. Copies of both 2010 and 2011 signed federal income taxes are due February 24, 2012 directly to the York Admission Office.
