New Schedule 2009-10

Greetings,

I hope that this email finds you well and enjoying some time for reflection and recharge.

I am pleased to inform you that student schedules for the 2009-2010 school year are now available on the secure Academic Records page, which can be found by clicking "parents" on the right menu bar of york.org. If you need assistance with logging in to Academic Records, please contact Mrs. Garrison at reina@york.org or 372-7338 ext. 0.

I also want to provide you with a copy of our new schedule for the 2009-2010 school year. At first look it will appear very much the same—a seven day rotation from A to G and a school day that runs from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Looking closer, please notice that we have made some adjustments to when and for how long class periods and other important campus activities will meet. Our aim, here, is to ensure effectual and dedicated time for both the unique community and the quality academic experiences that make York the choice for your student's education.

Here are a few things of which you might want to take note. School will begin at the uniform time of 8:30; some music classes will still meet in the zero period before first period. There will be a short gap time between 2nd and 3rd period in which activities such as break, class meetings, and tutorial will meet. Path will continue to meet on D days. Extended Class will take place before lunch during 3rd period, providing students and teachers more time together for certain class lessons and activities. Health and Fitness will still meet Monday. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, but it will not meet on Wednesdays in order to provide more time for other academic and community experiences.

We are confident this schedule will continue to provide our school community with the time needed to meet our stated mission: We inspire and prepare a diverse community of creative, independent thinkers.

Please review the new school schedule and your individual student schedule. If you should require a schedule change, or if you have any questions or concerns, please plan on meeting with me before school begins sometime between July 27th and August 6th; there will also be time to meet and make adjustments to your schedule once school begins should you require assistance then.

Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Regards,
Sean Raymond
