Last December the Central Coast Section of the California Association for Music Education recognized York School Music Director, Murray Walker as Outstanding Music Educator of the Year. The Central Coast Section is comprised of all of the music educators in Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Luis Obisbo, and San Benito Counties. “This organization has chosen some of the finest school music teachers in the state for this award,” Walker said, “and I’m honored to be named among them.” Mr. Walker will be recognized by the organization at the Gala Awards Banquet in Fresno on February 17, which is part of the state-wide annual in-service conference for music educators. Mr. Walker’s students will perform later this spring at the York School Fine Arts Weekend on April 28th.

This is great news, and well-deserved. I know many of Mr. Walker's students went on to amazing professional musical careers. I was not among them, but my education with Mr. Walker is a huge part of why my children are growing up in a musical home. I feel so fortunate to be able to share music with them. Thank you Mr. Walker, and congratulations on this recognition!
