Kristine Edmunds, CFRE has served as the Director of Advancement at York School since 2007. She leads a team of dedicated advancement professionals responsible for all aspects of development, communications, and community relations, including major gifts, planned giving, annual fund, alumni relations, donor stewardship, special events, media relations, and publications. Kris has 17 years of fundraising experience, including leadership positions in higher education and in community based non-profit organizations.

Kris served as an English teacher for middle and high school students and as a teacher trainer with the Peace Corps in Cameroon and for two years. After her Peace Corps service, Kris lived in the Washington, D.C. area where she was the legislative director for a U.S. Congressman and taught English as a Second Language at the Arlington Adult School.

She has served as a volunteer for national, state-wide, and local non-profit organizations. She currently serves on the boards of directors of the Salinas Steinbeck Rotary Club and the Monterey Bay Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She has served on the Central Coast National Philanthropy Day Committee for eight years and is the co-chair for the 2011 event.

Kris has a Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in International Development Management from the Monterey Institute of International Studies (with distinction) and a B.A. in political science from Willamette University (with honors). She also studied at the Universidad Pontificia De Salamanca in Spain. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and has been recognized for excellence in fundraising programs by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

In addition to York School, her passions include her family (she has a 5-year-old future Yorkie), community involvement, hiking in Big Sur, travel, and cross-cultural exchanges.
