Accepting Applications for the 2017-18 School Year
Ready to THINK YORK? The Admission Office is here to guide and assist you every step of the way. Call, email, or meet with us in person. We are looking forward to helping you learn more about the York experience.
Here are all the things you need to know about the process:
Tuesday - Thursday
We encourage students to experience York first-hand by visiting campus with a student host. These visits are often the best way to see whether York is a good match for a student’s interests and personality. Contact the Admission Office at 831.372.7338 x115 or 116 to schedule a visit. For more info check out Visit York.Wednesday, November 11 - Veterans Day: Group Visit Day for Prospective Students
York is in session on Veterans Day. To accommodate busy schedules we are offering a modified, group visit opportunity. Please call the Admission Office for details or RSVP here.
Visits begin on Thursday, October 13. No visits on October 19 or 31, November 2, 4, or 30, Thanksgiving week, January 3 or 4, or February 1.
10/15, 11/19, 12/3, 1/7, 1/21, 2/4 | 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Testing begins at 9:30 a.m. sharp in room 20 of the Science Building. Seating is limited; call to make a reservation. There is no fee. Parents: please join us for a Q & A session in room 20 of the Science Building at 9:30 a.m.
The Admission Assessment consists of two sections:
1. Mathematics Assessment, 35 minutes total
• mathematical relationships
• mathematical concepts—fractions, decimals, percentages, lowest common denominator, ratios, word problems, simple geometry, data analysis
2. English Assessment, 60 minutes total
• verbal analogies
• sentence mechanics
• reading comprehension
• writing sample
Online Submission or Postmark Deadline 2/1/2017*Application with $80 fee ($175 for international applicants) is due by February 1. We encourage families to submit an application as soon as possible in order to receive priority interview scheduling. Applications can be submitted online here or by requesting a paper application from the Admission Office.
Email or Postmark Deadline 2/1/2017*
The Admission Office must receive all three recommendations (English, Math, Principal or Counselor) no later than February 1. These forms are fillable PDF's. We will accept emailed copies if received directly from the teacher's email address or you may download printable recommendation forms here.
Postmark Deadline 2/1/2017*
The Admission Office must receive a current, official transcript no later than February 1, reflecting marks from the previous year through the first semester of the current year. Download a printable transcript request form here.
January 17-February 28*When an applicant’s file is complete (application, all recommendations, transcript, visit day, and York Admission Assessment results), the Admission Office will call to set up an interview. This 15-minute conversation on campus is for the applicant with two members of the Faculty Admission Committee. It is important to us that we get to know your student and give him/her the opportunity to ask questions about York’s programs and community.
