Visit York

Don’t just take our word for it—see for yourself. We’d be happy to arrange a campus visit for you so you can see firsthand what goes on at York.

One thing you’ll notice right away is the level of trust we enjoy on our campus. When you see backpacks lying all over the place, it’s because our cores values—honesty, respect, and responsibility—mean we take care of each other, we value each other, and we are conscious of how our actions affect others. The sense of community—among students, faculty, staff, and parents—is hard to explain, but once you’ve been on campus, you’ll know that it’s something unusual and great.

When you visit York, you’ll see that this is a place where you can find a world of ideas, friends you’ll have for the rest of your life, clubs you never knew existed, people with interests like your own, and a place where you can feel safe trying new things. We’ll help you find an interesting way to fit in, and stand out. And, along the way, you’ll be figuring out who you are and who you want to be.

How visits work

“Shadow visits” are available from mid-October through March. We’ll match you with a student from the grade you are going into who shares some of your interests. Visits are usually for the full academic day, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.—longer if you’d like to also see choir, band/orchestra, team sports, or a play practice.

You’ll meet your host in the Admission Office and they’ll walk you around campus, take you to all their classes, and introduce you to their friends and teachers. Don’t worry about remembering everybody’s name—it’s a small school, but there are still a lot of people to see in one day. For more details about shadow visits, click here:   Shadow Day Info
