Get ready for an electric night of school spirit, community pride, and NorCal rivalry as York School’s Chamber Choir takes the field to perform the National Anthem when Monterey Bay FC faces longtime Northern California rival Sacramento Republic FC. The match will take place on Saturday, August 29 at Cardinale Stadium in Seaside, California. Back to School Night is one of the most spirited matches of the season, bringing together schools from across the 831 to celebrate the launch of a new academic year. Students are recognized on the field, mascots fill the stadium, and the energy is unmistakable. An Evening with West End Stars: Erin Caldwell & Glain Rhys

York School is honored to welcome back West End performers Erin Caldwell and Glain Rhys for an immersive residency with our Musical Theatre Repertoire students — culminating in a special gala performance in support of York Performing Arts. Erin Caldwell’s West End credits include Six (UK & International Tour), Heathers: The Musical at The Other Palace, and Pretty Woman: The Musical at the Savoy Theatre. Known for her dynamic vocal power and commanding stage presence, Erin brings firsthand insight into contemporary musical theatre at the highest professional level. Glain Rhys has performed with The Phantom of the Opera and is widely recognized as part of The Welsh of the West End, celebrating Welsh talent in London’s theatre scene. A versatile vocalist and recording artist, Glain bridges classical, contemporary, and theatrical styles with extraordinary artistry. Throughout their residency, Erin and Glain will lead masterclasses focused on audition technique, storytelling through song, industry expectations, and professional performance standards. Students will receive direct coaching from artists who actively work in both London’s West End and the international theatre industry, gaining practical tools that elevate their audition books and performance confidence. Both artists were featured on the concept album of For Tonight, co-written by York’s Performing Arts Director, Spencer Williams — making this return not only professionally exciting, but personally meaningful for our York arts community. The residency will culminate in a Gala Fundraiser Performance showcasing our students alongside our guest artists in an unforgettable evening of musical theatre. Proceeds will directly support York Performing Arts programming and student opportunities. Guests will also have the opportunity to attend a VIP Meet & Greet with Erin and Glain prior to the performance. This electrifying pop musical reimagines the six wives of Henry VIII as a powerhouse girl group, remixing 500 years of heartbreak into a high-energy celebration of strength, individuality, and reclaiming the narrative. With chart-topping songs, fierce choreography, and a concert-style atmosphere, SIX is one of the most dynamic musicals of the last decade — and York students are bringing it to life for the first time in the Monterey region. Adding to the excitement, this production follows our fall residency with West End performer Erin Caldwell, who performed Jane Seymour in Six. Celebrate six years of holiday cheer as York School’s Choir and Chamber Choir return to the beautiful Portola Hotel & Spa in downtown Monterey for our 6th Annual Caroling Event on Friday, December 4, 2026. This cherished seasonal tradition transforms the Portola lobby into a festive gathering space filled with the joyful sounds of classic carols, holiday favorites, and spirited ensemble numbers. Guests will enjoy a heartwarming blend of solos, duets, and full-choir performances as our students spread warmth and celebration throughout the evening. Students will don their most festive holiday attire, adding sparkle and seasonal charm to an evening that has become a highlight of the Monterey holiday calendar. Whether you are a longtime York family or experiencing this tradition for the first time, the atmosphere promises music, community, and joyful connection. Families are invited to arrive early for a special Parent Happy Hour at 5:00 PM, with the performance beginning at 6:00 PM. Winter Choral Concert at Carmel Mission Basilica

York School’s Choir and Chamber Choir are proud to present the 6th Annual Holiday Concert at the breathtaking Carmel Mission Basilica on Friday, December 11, 2026 at 7:00 PM. This year’s concert will take audiences on a musical journey around the world, celebrating the rich diversity of international holiday traditions. From the joyful French carol “Chantons Noël” to the Hawaiian lullaby “Nu?oli,” from the Hebrew spinning song “S’vivon” to the South African anthem “Sizalelwe Indodana,” our students will share music that reflects cultures, languages, and stories from across the globe. The program also includes Japanese, Appalachian, and traditional European carols, alongside beloved congregational favorites such as “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “The First Noel,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” and “Silent Night.” Audience members will be invited to join in song throughout the evening, creating a shared and meaningful holiday experience within the historic walls of the Mission. Accompanied by Tiffany Hoffman, featured instrumentalists, percussionists, and student soloists, this concert blends artistry, reverence, and joyful celebration. We are thrilled to announce that York’s students will return to New York City in 2027 to participate in Manhattan Concert Productions’ Broadway Series presentation of The Prince of Egypt at the iconic David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. This marks our fourth consecutive year performing in this prestigious national series, following our unforgettable collaborations on Children of Eden, Anastasia, and Jane Eyre. Each year, York students have taken the stage alongside professional soloists, a full orchestra, and singers from across the country — and 2027 promises to be equally extraordinary. The Prince of Egypt, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, brings the epic story of Moses to life with soaring choral moments, cinematic orchestration, and powerful storytelling. This production will provide our students with a thrilling opportunity to perform in one of the most acoustically stunning concert halls in the world, under professional direction, at the heart of New York City. Beyond the performance, the trip will immerse students in the life of a Broadway artist. The itinerary will include attending multiple Broadway shows, visiting museums and historic neighborhoods, and engaging with the vibrant cultural landscape of New York. It is an experience that blends artistic excellence with exploration, independence, and inspiration. Each year, this trip deepens our students’ understanding of what it means to pursue theatre and music at the highest level. We are honored to once again represent York School on a national stage and cannot wait to bring The Prince of Egypt to life at Lincoln Center.

Every other year, one of the most anticipated traditions of the York Performing Arts program returns as our Choir and Chamber Choir travel to Southern California for a multi-day performance tour filled with music, learning, and unforgettable memories. The highlight of the trip is a featured performance at Disney California Adventure, where students will represent York School on a professional stage in front of park guests from around the world. Performing at Disney provides students with a unique opportunity to experience the expectations, energy, and excitement of a professional entertainment environment while showcasing the musicianship they have developed throughout the year. Beyond the performance, students will enjoy several days of exploration, team-building, and shared experiences throughout Southern California. Whether singing together, experiencing world-class entertainment, or creating lifelong memories with friends, the tour serves as both a celebration of a year of hard work and an opportunity to strengthen the bonds that make our ensembles so special. For many students, the Southern California Tour becomes one of the defining experiences of their time at York — a chance to grow as performers, represent their school with pride, and experience the joy of making music together beyond the classroom.
