On August 9, 2021, the York Community lost a valued York parent, York trustee, and community leader with the passing of Alfred Diaz-Infante. Our deepest condolences go out to Elvira, Marcos ’16, Karina, and Alexis. We have the greatest respect and admiration for Alfred and all his work.
To us, Alfred was a good friend, trusted colleague, committed professional, and dedicated advocate for the underserved in our community. He generously shared his time and talents with the many organizations he supported.
As an active member of the York Community, Alfred was involved with our school as a parent and Trustee. He was a member of the York Board of Trustees since 2013, a member of the Executive Committee, and Chair of the Committee on Trustees. Alfred’s insight and guidance were important to York’s governance, especially his leadership in support of the mission, vision, and values of The York School.
As a tribute to Alfred’s legacy and impact on the York Community, Gary Ray and Katy Castagna, parents of Aaron ’15 and Hannah ‘17, gave the first donation to establish the Alfred Diaz-Infante Memorial Scholarship Endowment. The funds from this endowment will be used to help provide access to a York education, a cause that was near and dear to Alfred's heart.
The York community asks for your support of this endowment as a way to remember and honor all the work Alfred accomplished for both York School and the Monterey community. If you choose to donate via Paypal or Venmo, please indicate that your gift is for the Alfred-Diaz Infante Memorial Scholarship.
