Posted 04/27/2018 01:37PM

Congratulations to Megan Tang who was named the Class of 2018 Valedictorian!

Honoring academic achievement, the valedictorian is selected based on GPA.

In addition to Megan’s hard work and dedication as a student, she has shown great leadership in the community as an active member of several extracurricular activities. Megan has held numerous student council positions and leads and actively participates in many clubs, such as Model UN and JETS. As a vibrant musician, Megan performed in the California All-State Honor Orchestra for three years and led the York School orchestra and the Youth Music Monterey County (YMMC) Honors Orchestra as concertmaster for the past two years.

Megan also spent the past two summers working as an intern at the Naval Research Lab and Naval Postgraduate School through the SEAP program and published her research results in the Journal of Applied Physics. She was the second place category grand prize winner in the 2017 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). As part of the award, a minor asteroid will be named after her by the MIT Ceres Connection Program.

After York, Megan will attend Princeton University.

Valedictorian is a great achievement that is earned over years of daily diligence and dedication. Bravo Megan!
