We would like to introduce you to the new members of our faculty:
Joshua Bloom is new to our Humanities Department and comes to us from just finishing his Masters degree in English at Middlebury College. He also has a Russian Area Studies M.A. from Indiana University, Bloomington and a B.A. in English form Swarthmore College. Josh loves reading, art, music, philosophy, running, and obstacle courses.
Jon Burke is the new Director of College Counseling at York. He is excited about further developing and adding to the college counseling model currently in place at York, working with our highly motivated students and collaborating with exceptional colleagues. Jon has earned a Certificate in College Counseling from the University of California, Los Angeles, as well as a B.S. from the University of California, Davis.
Nick Coburn-Palo is joining our Humanities Department from Taipei American School. His expansive background ranges from consulting instructor, a world-renowned career in speech and debate, and a wealth of experience in history. Nick holds a Ph.D from Brown University and a B.S. from Weber State University.
Alexis Giachetti is joining our Humanities Department at York with a wealth of experience in teaching middle, high school, and college students globally. She is fluent in Italian and Spanish and has taught English, wilderness skills, as well as literature and romance languages. Alexis has earned a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, an M.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a B.A. from the University of the South, Sewanee.
Eddie Mendenhall joins York School as the leader of the Jazz Ensemble with a passion for jazz that stems from early childhood. Eddie has earned a B.A. in Jazz Compostion from Berklee College of Music in Boston, and has been performing in Tokyo for the past seven years.
Elizabeth Miles is a familiar face at York and we are excited that she is joining our art department. Elizabeth has taught students at multiple grade levels from middle school to college in various disciplines including, theater, design, English, humanities, and art. Elizabeth holds a M.A. in Sculpture from San Jose State University.
Noah Reeves '13 is very excited to return to York as a faculty alumnus to teach music. Noah holds a B.A. in Music Education from CSUMB and is ready to bring his professional experiences and passion to the School's Orchestra and Band ensembles.
Spencer Williams is our new Music and Arts Department Chair. Spencer will be teaching a number of classes, including Music Theory, eighth grade arts, and vocal ensembles. Spencer has significant experience as a choir tour director, musical theater director, and as an educational theater director. He is also an accomplished pianist, accompanist, arranger, and violin player. Spencer has earned an M.A. in Music Education from Boston University.
