York builds Late Start Days into our academic calendar once a month, usually the first Wednesday of the month. Doing so affords students some extra time to sleep in, to commute, and to prepare for the day and the week ahead of them.

. Students are welcome to stay home and sleep in; they are also welcome to come to campus before 9:30 a.m.
when classes start - the Student Center and the learning circles in the Commons are available (the library is closed until 9:30 for the Faculty/Staff meeting).
York encourages students to get enough sleep and to maintain a healthy, consistent sleep schedule. When we sleep our brain goes about a process of maintenance, a sort of scrubbing
(some scientists believe the brain is cleaning itself of beta-amyloids and tau, which is akin to deleting emails from our inbox or a filter cleaning a fish tank). That sleep nourishes us supports long-term memory storage. Thus, a good night’s sleep
is vital for students' academic success. Meanwhile, you may have noticed more of us are going to sleep these days with a smart device in or beside the bed. Research
reveals, however, that smartdevice use at night saps productivity the next day. So let that device sleep, too.

Students should arrive by 9:25 a.m.
Faculty/Staff Meeting 8:00 - 9:20 a.m.
Morning Music - for those who participate in a music ensemble 8:40 - 9:20 a.m.
Period 1 9:30 - 10:10 a.m.
Period 2 10:15 - 10:55 a.m.
Extended Passing Period 10:55 - 11:05 a.m.
Period 3 11:05 - 11:45 a.m.
Lunch 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Period 4 12:30 - 1:10 p.m.
Period 5 1:15 - 1:55 p.m.
Workjobs 1:55 - 2:10 p.m.
Period 6 2:10 - 2:50 p.m.
Tutorial 2:50 - 3:30 p.m.
