York Water Polo VS Gilroy

After two losses to Gilroy, York JV came into their third contest hungry. The game was intense from start to finish, and York fought hard to keep their lead all game. Chamberlain Key '23 set the pace for the team, winning all four swim-offs. The defense was fortified by Jacob Bancroft's '22 play in goal, and Quincy Key's '23 3 steals. Leading the way on offense was Will Hand '23 who had four goals, but also dished out two assists. Ben Simpson '22 fired two goals from the perimeter at critical points in the game. Quincy Key '23 and Ian Partlow '23 also scored. Final Score 8-6.
The varsity team faced an uphill battle in their third game against Gilroy, with two key players out of the game. Kevin Daliri '21 faced a nonstop barrage of shots, but was still able to block 11 of them, never giving up no matter how high the score got. York was bruised, and beaten, but the players took their hits and kept going. Zib Lindholm '22 and Tristan Pfleger '23 stepped into expanded roles, showing grit and determination on both sides of the pool and Tristan found the goal towards the end of the game. Its play like that which turned the game from a Sisyphean task into a valuable growth experience.
