Studying abroad gives students the opportunity to step into another culture and see the world from a new viewpoint. This summer, several York students will be doing just that as they travel to new places to learn unfamiliar language, engage in service projects, or dive into content studies like digital media ior watershed research. Through various programs with CIEE, Council for International Educational Exchange, our students are preparing to be global citizens, and on Tuesdays, we will share some of their experiences with you!

I got to Santiago three days ago, and so far the trip has been awesome. My host family is very nice, and it has been quite an experience trying to communicate in Spanish. The other day we drove an hour or so away to el Río Yaque del Norte, where we went white water rafting in the river. The weather was in the 90s, and so being in the water felt great! Today we visited an orphanage for children with severe disabilities, and helped to feed and entertain them. It was great to see how happy the kids were that we were there, and I'm excited to go back to the orphanage again and help out. Also, my roommates and I got to walk to the monument that is a few blocks from our house, and it had an amazing view of the city. I can't wait to see what the rest of my trip is like!
