It's hard to believe that te first quarter of the school year is already over, and college application deadlines are right around the corner! I remember my freshman year at York, looking at “Class of 2016” next to my name and thinking that senior year and college were both millions of years away. Everything was so new and fresh then, and it so strange to think that next year will be another new and fresh situation as a college freshman! Though the college application process is definitely nerve-wracking, it is exciting to think about starting the next chapter of my life. York has definitely more than prepared me for college, but I will miss all of my friends as we go our separate ways. I will miss the sunny York campus, the wonderful teachers, and our tightly knit community. I love the family dynamic that we have at York – I will not only miss my fellow seniors, but also the eighth graders, freshman, sophomores, and juniors. All of my teachers have been so kind, understanding, and helpful throughout my high school career – particularly during the stressful times. The intermingling of grade levels at York and the true and lasting friendships that result is special and unique. I have made lifelong friends here, and I am so grateful to have been a part of such a wonderful community.
Luckily, I still have a semester left, and I am ready to fully appreciate all of it before I have to graduate! All of the seniors have definitely become nostalgic, discussing the fun things that we did freshman year, music we used to listen to, and events we attended. Tomorrow will be my last All About York as a SHIELD member, and I cannot wait to help encourage families to apply to York School for the same great experience that I had.
