I’m currently a junior in my fourth year here at York, because I chose to start in the 8th grade. My junior year is nearing an end with the conclusion of the third quarter, which means I’ve started focusing on studying for the two AP tests I plan to take: AP U.S. History and AP Calculus AB. The rest of my time is spent attending York swim practice in preparation for our team’s first swim meet against King City. Our boy’s swim team is building up to be quite impressive, so I am excited to see what we can do this year. I also play water polo twice a week with my club team, work as a lifeguard at the Monterey Sports Center, keep up with my guitar skills, and train at my karate studio. My black belt test is scheduled to take place in a few months, and it requires a lot of preparation. Among many requirements for the test, we have to run three miles within a time limit and break through two slabs of concrete.
The York admission season has come to an end for the class of 2021 and my younger sister just got her acceptance letter for next year’s 8th grade class. She is very excited and I am immensely proud of her. I also came to York as an 8th grader, and I cannot stress enough how much of a benefit it was. It really helps you make the transition from middle school to high school in terms of classes, homework and time management.
