DAR Good Citizen Essay Contest Recognizes Laura Bauman
Posted 02/16/2017 09:38AM

Congratulations to Laura Bauman '17 who was recognized by the Commodore Sloat Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution with the Good Citizen Award.

As part of an annual nation-wide competition, the Chapter holds an essay contest and selects one student from each high school who demonstrates the qualities of a good citizen through their community work and future goals. Of this group of recognized essays, one is sent on to the District Contest. An extra bravo to Laura whose essay was selected to go on to the next round.

Laura was recognized for her diverse interests on campus like Key Club, Model UN, and soccer, the various leadership roles she has played at York, and her service work in the community like making sleeping mats for the homeless out of recycled plastic bags or crocheting hats for hospitalized newborns. In the fall, Laura will continue her dedication to service and leadership at the United States Military Academy, West Point.
