A College-Prep, Independent Day
School for Grades 8-12

Vocal Music

Our vocal music program is devoted to helping students expand their repertoire and achieve new levels of technical skill and creative expression. For those who have never explored music, singing is the perfect place to start. Our choirs perform at various school events and in the community at large. Vocalists can also audition for regional and state honor choirs.
You can get a glimpse of our talented singers performing at our Grandparents' Day event here.

The Choir is a great place to find your singing voice. It is a mixed vocal ensemble of 30 to 40 students in all grades. It is open to all students, without audition, who then learn the basics of vocal production and music reading, and, most importantly, discover the joy of singing. The group learns a variety of repertoire in different styles.

For students who have found their voice, the Chamber Choir is an opportunity to explore a more challenging repertoire in a small group. Chamber Choir is made up of 12-18 auditioned singers in grades 10-12 who have made considerable progress in the skills of pitch mastery, vocal control, ensemble discipline, music reading, blend, and melodic independence.

The Vocal Jazz Ensemble is open to all students in all grades who enjoy singing and want to sample a different genre of vocal music. The group does a range of ensemble and solo pieces and perform at the Winter Arts Festival and the Festival of the Arts Instrumental Concert. They receive coaching from the Monterey Jazz Festival Vocal Clinicians.
