¡Hola a todos! My name is Rita Mora (known to students as Profe Mora), and I am excited to be a part of our school community as a Spanish and ESL teacher. Born and raised in Southern California, my educational path began at Victor Valley College (VVC) before transferring to California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Literature. As my passion for language learning and literacy grew, I went on to obtain my Master’s Degree in TESOL at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS). Over the past eight years, I have had the privilege of teaching both Spanish (4 years) and ESL across a variety of settings, including public and independent middle school, high school, and adult education. My educational goals are to create and foster an inclusive, engaging classroom environment where students feel empowered to communicate across languages and cultures. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy going on various adventures with my husband and our three kids, diving into a great novel, watching my favorite sports teams (Go Dodgers!) and going for runs (2x Monterey Bay Half Marathon!). I look forward to continuing to consistently grow and improve our Spanish program at York and supporting students with ESL needs! |
