Every student is invited to participate in a personalized course planning session in June with the Director of Teaching & Learning, which can be either virtual or on campus.
Grade 8
8th grade core classes are predetermined, with math and language based upon choice and/or placement testing. 8th graders also have the option to take a music ensemble. Typical courses for 8th graders:
Grade 9
9th grade core classes are predetermined, with math and language courses based upon placement determination. Students have elective choices such as Arts courses (visual, vocal, instrumental, performing) and Technology (Code+Design). Typical courses for 9th graders:
Students transferring into grades 10 or 11 will choose courses based on completed credits and York’s graduation requirements.
