Grace Baker '17
Returns to York as a Faculty Member After Graduating from UC Irvine
Grace Baker ‘17 joined York school in 2013. She quickly immersed herself in clubs, student council activities, peer counseling, and sports. Having an inclination toward theater arts, math, and science, Grace grew a strong bond with the faculty members of those departments.
After graduation, Grace went on to study Psychology at UC Irvine. While there, Grace continued to excel in math and sciences. She graduated in 2021 with Phi Beta Kappa honors.
Now, Grace has returned to York as a faculty member! During the Summer Bridge program Grace taught Intro to Algebra and Chemistry and is now teaching Algebra II for the ‘21-22 school year.
Grace is in the process of studying to retake the MCAT to start a pre med track. Her long term goal is to teach medical students but in the meantime, she is thoroughly enjoying teaching York students and working with her former teachers. Placing in the 98th percentile on the Chemistry/Physics section of the MCAT the first time she took it, we think she will have no problem achieving this dream!
“I respected our teachers a lot, especially in the math and science departments because of our shared interests. I remember being in school and thinking that I would choose people like them to be friends with.”
