York Robotics Team 5171

York Robotics Team 5171 invites you to share in the excitement of the kickoff to robotics season and to our competition events.
The 2023 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) game will be revealed on the morning of Saturday, January 7, 2023 and we are gathering at York in the Gawain Family Outdoor Theater (weather permitting, otherwise room 23) at 9:00 a.m. to watch the live stream and begin brainstorming. All are welcome to join and to share your ideas!

The kickoff event initiates our intensive three-month endeavor to build a 120-lb robot to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams. Building upon the success of last year, we are preparing for the 2023 FRC season with our largest group ever. Assuming all goes to plan, we will be attending the Monterey Bay Regional hosted at Seaside High (March 29-April 1, 2023) and the Silicon Valley Regional hosted at SJSU (April 5-8, 2023).

Robotics is a multidisciplinary effort that goes beyond the building of a robot. The team consists of numerous subgroups—management and fundraising, multimedia graphic and web design, engineering, programming, and more—and we welcome anyone who would like to share their ideas, skills, and passion in any of these areas. Let us know if you want to get involved by emailing jhanna@york.org!

On behalf of all of Team 5171, we hope to see you at Saturday's kickoff and game reveal!
