Introduction to Social Justice
I am proposing a social justice course at York. I took an Introduction to Social Justice course at Monterey Peninsula College the summer of my freshman year. Throughout this course, I became more aware of oppression within society, my role in it, and ways in which I can contribute to change. I believe that understanding the society and world we live in is very important, so I was inspired to propose this course at York.

I hope to design a course in which students examine oppression/discrimination in both the US and globally. In addition, students will learn about US/global social movements throughout history into modern day. This course will encourage students to observe their role in society, and to explore ways in which they can work towards a more equitable and just world.
