Matt Micciche

Matt Micciche is the Interim Head of School at York School for the 2025-26 academic year.
 
This will be Matt's 20th year as a school head, having most recently served in that capacity at Lancaster Country day School in Pennsylvania. Prior to that role, Matt was the Head of Friends School of Baltimore from 2005-2021. Under his leadership, both schools enhanced and expanded academic programming, conducted extensive strategic planning and implementation processes, and raised significant funds for both capital projects and financial aid programs. Throughout his time as a head, Matt has remained an active English teacher.
 
Originally from the Boston area, Matt graduated with a BA from Amherst College and earned MAs in education from Tufts University and in English from Middlebury College. He began his career at Wilmington Friends School in Delaware, where he served as an English teacher, lacrosse coach, college counselor, Upper School Head, and Assistant Head for Academics.
 
Matt and his wife, Frances, have three sons, Peter, Jason, and David.
