Andrea Sanico

INSTITUTIONAL DATABASE & BUSINESS OPERATIONS MANAGER  |  ASANICO@YORK.ORG

Misplaced your schedule on the first day of school? Felt unwell, sick, or tired during the school day? Sprained your ankle during a Musical Chairs spirit day? Need to notify the school that your student is sick or out of town? Forgot your computer and needed to borrow one for the day? Need a general question answered about York School? Whether it’s a new printout of your schedule, a quiet and cool place to lie down, an ice pack or bandaid, someone to mark your attendance, a school computer, or an answer to just about any sort of general question, Andrea Sanico is the first person that can help you out. Conveniently located at the very front of the school, Mrs. Sanico is the first person you will see in the Main Office and probably one of the last you see as you leave campus. She can answer or provide a solution to just about any general question or concern you may have or will direct you to the very person who can.

This is just the beginning of the plethora of hats that Mrs. Sanico wears every single day. Being a Notary Public for 30+ years where meticulousness counts, it carries over into much of what she does here at York. Behind the scenes, she is responsible for many things that serve as a bridge between our school’s internal data via databases and registration and the external information provided to faculty, staff, and York families in newsletters, directories, and the website. Most importantly, she considers student safety the most important responsibility of all; often joking that she’s the “school Mom to 180 kids” she is constantly on the lookout for student attendance – “We are responsible for students while they’re on or expected to be on the York campus; we need to look out for them just as their families would.”

Being the parent of two York graduates herself, Mrs. Sanico is used to being involved in student life. She is always ready to share words of encouragement, sometimes a stern “Mama Bear” lesson, will laugh, cry, dance, and even joke throughout her day. When not in the office, you’ll find Mrs. Sanico cheering you on at sports games – a massive sports aficionado, she appreciates the skill of talented players, especially those that epitomize sportsmanship and teamwork above all. While cheering on her kids at water polo games years’ back, she found a new passion and was transformed into a sports photographer, so you’ll often find her with a 600mm lens in hand at many sports events. Her photos caught the eye of USA Water Polo and she is now part of a team of photographers for USA Water Polo Junior Olympics!
